You Are What You Eat
I have been researching quite a bit on the age-old phrase, “you are what you eat”. I’m sure this doesn’t come as a surprise to most; it is completely true. But the extent that this phrase goes astounded me.
The food we eat determines the composition of our cell membranes, bone marrow, blood, and hormones. Our adult bodies lose approximately 300 billion cells daily and those cells must be replenished. So, literally, our bodies are manufactured by the foods we eat. Our bodies are replacing billions of cells every day and it uses the foods we eat as its source of building materials. If you put fat and oils in your body, your body replaces cells that are fat and oily. If you put antioxidants and nutrients in your body, your body replaces cells that are strong and vibrant.
Our lifestyles are so powerful and this is why cleaner, healthier eating is ridiculously important; especially in an age where processed foods are predominant due to the need for speed. We don’t have time to cook like we used to, so fast pre-packaged meals have become the new norm (and they are significantly cheaper than the wholesome, healthier options). But here’s the thing; clean, healthy foods have more fiber and fluids, therefore helping you feel fuller, consuming less calories, and controlling your weight naturally. Processed, unhealthy foods are the exact opposite. So why do we keep putting junk in our bodies!? Eating well is clearly the formula that can reduce our risk for illnesses and diseases. Eating well is the perfect formula for a happy, healthy body.
